Shaping Houston: Jane Henry

When Hurricane Harvey struck Houston in August 2017, Jane Henry, her husband and two young daughters were left stranded in their flooded home. In the aftermath, she donned a pair of ill-fitting gloves and got to work clearing debris in and around her house. While her will never failed, her gloves did. That's when Henry realized there was a need for workwear made specifically for women in commercial, industrial and emergency response jobs, like plumbers, electricians and EMTs. She spent months conducting focus groups with women workers and safety managers in order to create prototypes of various products. After months of prototyping and generating capital, SeeHerWork launched in January 2018. Henry and her company have been featured on Good Morning America, CNN, NPR, and industry trade magazines.
