Gilbert Perez was born in Cuba and moved to Miami when he was less than a year old. Growing up in Miami, Perez learned a strong work ethic from his parents.
Perez later moved to Houston in 1985 and only planned to stay a couple of years. He developed a love for the architecture of the older homes in the Heights. He co-founded Save the Bungalows, an organization dedicated to stopping the demolition of the beautiful older homes in the Heights.
He decided to open up a storefront in the neighborhood called Bespoke by GJCD and immediately started getting clients in the neighborhood. Now, when he does a remodeling project for an older home he often works on its interior design as well.
Perez loves the city of Houston and believes that it still has enough older structures that need preservation.
At Cadillac, we celebrate those whose passion and vision have reshaped our city, our lives and our culture - including Gilbert Perez’s preservation and design work with the houses in the Heights.
His continuous passion makes him one of the inspiring and driving persons shaping Houston.
