SHAPING HOUSTON: ALBA HUERTA
POURING HOUSTON’S FIERCEST COCKTAILS
Raised in Houston, Alba Huerta’s first bartending job was in 2000 and motivated her to become more knowledgeable on different products while also gaining invaluable experience as a service professional.
What better way to test the decision to become a bartender than experiencing it in the hospitality-focused, Las Vegas? Abla moved to Las Vegas in order to refine her service skills as a whole. As Alba grew professionally, her speed, efficiency and her ability to effortlessly coordinate and execute a large number of tasks, increased tremendously.
Alba returned to Houston to develop her incredibly successful career which eventually lead her to be inducted into the Dame Hall of Fame- Tales of the Cocktail. Alba, along with Bobby Heugel, were also named Bartenders of the Year by Imbibe Magazine, the ultimate drinks magazine, in 2014.
Abla’s journey has led her to her current bar, Julep. Julep is the culmination of Alba’s career as a bartender and evokes “sultry, charm, southern-influence and genteel,” as described by Alba. The Julep’s menu features a strong bourbon element, an iconic handcrafted classic cocktail menu, champagne as well as a curated wine selection.
